AI Voice Demo: Browser-Only — What It Means
The WorkSmartOS voice demo runs in your browser. No phone number. No app install. No signup. This is intentional — it's a functional preview of the AI receptionist capability under testing, not a live phone service.
How the Browser Demo Works
1. Click "Try Voice Demo" on /create/ or /demo/
2. Grant microphone permission (browser prompt)
3. Speak naturally — describe a maintenance issue
4. AI extracts structured facts in real time
5. Review the draft — see what the AI heard and structured
6. Safety latches apply — gas, electrical, safeguarding, high-value flags appear
The demo uses Google Gemini for language understanding and Piper for text-to-speech, running client-side where possible and via our API for the voice components.
What It Is Not
- • ❌ Not a live phone number you can call
- • ❌ Not an always-on receptionist service
- • ❌ Not general availability
- • ❌ Not a substitute for emergency services (999/111)
- • ❌ Not a contracted service — no SLA, no support
What It Is
- • ✅ Functional preview of structured fact extraction from speech
- • ✅ Safety latch demonstration (gas/electrical/safeguarding/high-value)
- • ✅ Browser-based — works on desktop and mobile
- • ✅ No data retained after session ends
- • ✅ Honest about pre-launch status
Live Demo Number (Under Testing)
We are testing a Twilio-powered demo number that routes to the same voice pipeline. When enabled, it will appear on /create/ and /demo/ pages. This is separate from the browser demo and also pre-launch.
- • Availability: 24/7 when enabled
- • Scope: Greeting + structured intake only
- • Safety: Same safety latches apply
- • Data: Call audio processed per our subprocessors list (/subprocessors/)
- • Cost: Free during pre-launch testing
The live number is gated behind the same voice gate enforcement (S7 in our master plan) — low-confidence fields reported as "Unknown — not found", not guessed.
Why Browser-First?
1. Accessibility: No phone required; works for deaf/hard-of-hearing users with text fallback
2. Privacy: No phone number shared; microphone permission is explicit and revocable
3. Testing: Faster iteration on the AI pipeline without telephony infrastructure
4. Transparency: You see exactly what the AI extracts in real time
Pre-Launch Status
WorkSmartOS MaintenanceOS is pre-launch. The AI receptionist capability is under testing. Fixed rules and authorised human clearance keep control of safety and money. Not commercially generally available; not a public always-on phone service.
